Montana's Peer Network

Montana’s Peer Network is a statewide peer run 501c3 non-profit recovery organization with a mission to lead the development of the peer support workforce and creates pathways for wellness and recovery in communities throughout Montana.

We are a network of over 1700 individuals in 78 communities across Montana who are in recovery from mental health or substance use or identify as family member of a child with behavioral health challenges or special health care needs. We provide, education, consultation, training, advocacy, peer support demonstration projects and resources across the state using our own “lived experience” through peer support. We feel peer support should be universally available throughout the healthcare system and that peer support is one of the most effective ways to improve the system of care. We are not a service provider instead we work to develop and expand the peer support workforce, create opportunities for wellness and recovery and connect individuals and families together. We are advocates through personal experience.

Mission of the Central Service Area Authority (CSAA)

The Central Service Area Authority (CSAA) was established by State statute to collaborate with the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) and Local Advisory Councils (LACs) in the planning, implementation and evaluation of a consumer-driven, recovery-oriented and culturally competent public mental health care system. Our mission is to assure that consumers, their families, and other interested community stakeholders have a strong voice in defining, developing, managing and monitoring public mental health care delivery in Montana, with a focus on the Central region of the state. The primary objective is to ensure that consumer’s needs and preferences are at the center of the services provided.

Veterans Crisis Line

Signed into law in 2020, the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act authorized 988 as the new three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. As part of the law, all telephone service providers in the U.S. had to activate the number no later than July 16, 2022.

Veterans can use this new option by dialing 988 and pressing 1 to contact the Veterans Crisis Line. Veterans may still reach the Veterans Crisis Line with the previous phone number—1-800-273-8255 and Press 1—by text (838255), and through chat (VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat).
